Since the beginning of the year, it has been possible to submit applications to the Finnish Immigration Service. To submit an application, book an appointment in advance in our online appointment system and fill in the application before you visit one of our service points.

You cannot book an appointment by phone; you can only book an appointment in our online appointment system. Our telephone service cannot help you book an appointment.

At the moment, our appointment system is very busy.

If you are not able to book an appointment, please follow these instructions:

  • Check the appointment system later for available appointment times. Appointments times for March will become available in the next few days and in the future appointment times will become available for two months at a time.
  • If your permit is not going to expire within the next three months, please wait patiently for new appointment times. We will probably not be as busy and it will be easier to book an appointment later this year. At the beginning of the year, there have not been as many appointments available as normally, because we have not been able to open all desks at every service point.
  • Most of the applications can also be submitted online in the e-service Enter Finland. Your application will become pending from the moment you send in the application via Enter Finland. After that, you need to visit a service point to prove your identity within three months.
  • If you are able to travel to another city, you can also book an appointment at another service point.

If your permit is about to expire and you are not able to submit an application online or book an appointment, you can visit a service point and queue with a queue number. However, please be prepared for long queues and that we will not necessarily be able to handle your matter during the same day. In particular, the service point in Helsinki has been very busy.

Advice and information on our website

You do not have to visit one of our service points to ask for advice.

  • Please always check our website Migri.fi first for an answer to your question.
  • You can also follow the processing times for the applications on Migri.fi. If you have applied online, you can follow the processing of your application in Enter Finland. The service points and our telephone service are not able to give you any additional information.

You do not have to book an appointment to bring us additional documents.

  • You can send us the additional documents. You can find the instructions on our website.
  • You can bring the additional documents to a postbox at one of our service points.
