Press release

The instructions for employers on how to verify whether an asylum seeker has the right to work have changed on 1 September 2019. As of 1 September, employers and asylum seekers have been able to request a certificate on the right to work from the Finnish Immigration Service. Because of this change, the temporary service number for asylum seekers' employers will be closed at the end of September. The last day of operation is 30 September 2019.

What type of receipt do I need to attach to my request?

You can request a certificate on the right to work using a special form assigned for these requests. When you submit your certificate request, you need to attach a receipt of the paid processing fee.

The receipt can be one of the following:

  • A receipt showing that the processing fee has already been paid.
  • An extract from a credit card bill showing that the payment has been made from the account.
  • A bank statement showing that the payment has been made from the account.

If the receipt you have submitted is not accepted as proof, we will ask you to supplement your request. The certificate on an asylum seeker’s right to work can be issued in one language, either in Finnish, Swedish or English.
