Some of the letters sent by the Finnish Immigration Service concerning the retaining of Finnish citizenship have contained incorrect name and address details.

If you have received such a letter, you do not need to contact us. The letters did not contain any sensitive personal data.

We apologise for the mistake.

Finnish citizens who also hold the citizenship of another state may automatically lose their Finnish citizenship at the age of 22 years if they do not have a sufficient connection with Finland.

The Finnish Immigration Service notifies persons whose home municipality has been in Finland for less than seven years of their risk of losing their Finnish citizenship and of the possibility of retaining it. The Finnish Immigration Service has sent this notification to persons who will reach the age of 18 and whose address is available in the Population Information System.

Out of the approximately 2,400 letters posted, around 170 contained incorrect name and address details.
