Temporary protection for Ukrainians fleeing the war has been extended until 4 March 2027. The Council of the European Union made a decision regarding the extension on 15 July 2025.

Wait for additional instructions

Current residence permits issued on the basis of temporary protection are valid until 4 March 2026. We will provide further instructions and information separately when we start to extend the validity of residence permits and to issue residence permit cards with the expiry date 4 March 2027.

You do not need to apply for a new residence permit card when the Finnish Immigration Service extends your temporary protection residence permit. New cards are subject to a fee.
