Current information about processing of asylum applications submitted by Iranians

Publication date 15.4.2026 13.00
Type:Press release

In February 2026, the Finnish Immigration Service decided to partly suspend decision-making on asylum applications submitted by Iranians. The decision was made due to the changes in Iran’s security situation. Because the security situation in the country is still unstable, the suspension of decision-making continues until 30 April 2026. After that, we will assess again whether we can start issuing decisions normally.

Decision-making has been suspended regarding applications that cannot be decided before there is more information on how the security situation in the country develops. Decision-making will return to normal as soon as we have enough information about the situation in Iran.

We follow how the situation develops

We follow how the situation in Iran develops. When decision-making on all applications resumes, we will inform of this without delay.

Updates on how the situation in Iran affects Finnish Immigration Service customers will be published on the page FAQs about the situation in Iran. The page is also available in Farsi.
