Processing queue of students’ residence permit applications
This page contains current information about the processing of students’ residence permit applications. We usually publish updates on the status of the processing queue every week on Tuesdays. The updates show the status of the queue up until the previous Sunday. The latest updates may occasionally be missing from this page due to technical issues with the statistical service.
Applications for a first residence permit
Of the positive decisions on applications for a first residence permit, 75 per cent have been issued within 30 days or less.
On 11 March 2025, there were approximately 1,169 applications for a first residence permit for studies that were waiting to be processed or being processed. Please note that your application will not be waiting to be processed before you have proved your identity.
We are currently processing rations by applicants who have proved their identity on 16 September 2024 or after this date. We may also process some older applications that are waiting for additional information, for example.
To date, 1,281 applications for a first residence permit for studies have been decided since 1 January 2025.
Applications for an extended permit
On 11 March 2025, there were approximately 138 applications for an extended permit for studies that were waiting to be processed or being processed.
At the moment, we are processing applications of those who have proved their identity on 9 September 2024 or later.
To date, 340 applications for an extended permit for studies have been decided since 1 January 2025.
Residence permit applications for studies are processed as urgent
We process all residence permit applications for studies as urgent without any separate requests.
