When a child turns 18
If a child who is included in a citizenship application as a co-applicant turns 18 before the application is decided by the Finnish Immigration Service, the child must supplement the application so that it applies to him or her.
Supplementing the application means that the co-applicant needs to fill in the citizenship application form KAN_1. The co-applicant can then submit the application by post or bring it to a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service and leave in a letter box at the service point.
The Finnish Immigration service sends a letter to any co-applicant who comes of age, urging him or her to supplement the application so that it applies to him or her. The letter also states a date by which this must be done.
- The application is free of charge, provided that it is submitted within the time limit set out by the Finnish Immigration Service.
