Expiration of the application

The application will expire, if

  • the applicant cancels his or her application
  • an applicant who has submitted his or her application in Finland is likely to have moved out of the country
  • the applicant dies
    • The Finnish Immigration Service will make a decision on the expiry of the application. The expiry decision cannot be appealed.

The application will expire, if

  • the applicant is granted Finnish citizenship
    • The Finnish Immigration Service will make a decision on the expiry of the application. The expiry decision can be appealed.

The application will not expire, if

  • the sponsor or the employer notifies that he or she wants to cancel the application
  • the sponsor moves out of Finland, is granted Finnish citizenship, or dies
  • the residence permit is applied for on the basis of work and the employment ends
    • The Finnish Immigration Service will make a decision on the application considering the changed circumstances. The decision can be appealed.
