Seasonal workers staying in Finland can apply for an extended residence permit online

If you are a seasonal worker currently staying in Finland, from 1 June 2021 you can apply for a seasonal work permit via Enter Finland. Previously, seasonal workers staying in Finland have been able to apply for a residence permit only by a paper application.

You can apply for your first residence permit for seasonal work in Finland if you have arrived in Finland on a season work visa or certificate for seasonal work.

How to apply for a residence permit for seasonal work via Enter Finland while staying Finland:

1. Complete the application for a residence permit for seasonal work on Enter Finland.

2. Choose a service point where you wish to visit for identification. Identification means that you must prove your identity, present the originals of your appendices and give your fingerprints for the residence permit card. 

3. Submit your application via Enter Finland before your current certificate for seasonal work or seasonal work visa expires. By submitting your application via Enter Finland before your current seasonal work permit expires, your right to work will continue if you stay with the same employer.

4. Visit the service point of the Finnish Immigration Service to complete your identification.

If you have a seasonal work permit that will soon expire

If your employment continues after the expiry of your current residence permit, you can apply for an extended residence permit for season work. When applying for an extended permit, you do not have to visit the service point of the Finnish Immigration Service for identification if you submit your application online and use, for example, your online banking codes for authentication. If your employment does not continue immediately after your current residence permit expires and you visit your home country in the meantime, you cannot apply for an extended permit and instead you must apply for a new first seasonal work permit from the Finnish mission.
