Reception centre in Eurajoki closes
The reception centre that was set up one week ago in Eurajoki will be closed down today. The centre accommodated 50 asylum seekers who will be transported during the course of Friday to a reception centre that opens today in Merikarvia. The new centre is run by the Finnish Red Cross.
The centre in Eurajoki is closed down due to an overall consideration based on the information the Finnish Immigration Service received about Soft Landing Oy, the company that run the centre, during the contract negotiations.
Eurajoki was the first municipality where asylum seekers were accommodated in containers. Containers are a realistic and a very likely alternative that can be used also in the future to accommodate asylum seekers. The Finnish Immigration Service is looking into the possibility of providing container accommodation also in Eurajoki with another service provider.
