The Finnish Immigration Service has launched a new online magazine called Maahanmuutosta, which provides current information and examines recent trends in immigration in a concise and interesting way. The first issue was published today, on 9 June 2026.

The purpose of the magazine is to increase knowledge about immigration as a phenomenon and to present diverse viewpoints on immigration as well as the work of authorities and experts.

“Through our new magazine, we want to take part in the public discussion about immigration and to present viewpoints of different experts. Our goal is to provide information about trends and phenomena related to immigration, about which factors affect them and about the wide operating environment of our agency,” says Ilkka Haahtela, Director General of the Finnish Immigration Service.

The magazine is available both on the website Maahanmuutosta.fi and in printed form, and it is intended for anyone who is interested in immigration. The magazine contains news and statistics on immigration in an easily accessible way. Each issue also presents the varied activities of the agency.

The first issue focuses on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum and on ensuring seamless and controlled immigration.

The magazine is published in Finnish, and its contents can be cited freely in the media, provided that the source is mentioned. For more information about the magazine, contact the Communications Unit of the Finnish Immigration Service.
