New videos give asylum seekers basic information on the asylum process
The Finnish Immigration Service has prepared videos for asylum seekers about the various stages of the asylum process. The purpose of the videos is to explain the asylum process for asylum seekers as simply and understandably as possible.
You can view the videos on the Finnish Immigration Service’s YouTube channel
The following videos are available on the Finnish Immigration Service’s YouTube channel:

- On what grounds can a residence permit be received?
- Who does what in the asylum process?
- Asylum interview
- Waiting for a decision
- Positive decision

You can ask for more information about the videos from your reception centre’s staff.
The videos were prepared as part of the ONE project. The purpose of the project is to ensure that asylum seekers receive sufficient information on the asylum process and their rights and obligations in the process. The ONE project has received project funding from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
In addition to videos, the project has produced the “Information for Asylum Seekers” brochure that contains basic information on applying for asylum. You will receive the brochure from the police or the border guard authorities when you apply for asylum. The brochure is also available on the Finnish Immigration Service website.
The materials were prepared together with asylum seekers
The intention in the project was to make the materials as understandable to customers as possible. Therefore, the materials were prepared together with asylum seekers and reception centre staff.
The videos were translated into the most common languages spoken by asylum seekers: Arabic, Dari, English, Persian, Somali, Sorani, Turkish and Russian. The brochure is also available in Albanian, Spanish, Kurmanji, French and Swedish.
