Video to help with filling in citizenship application
There is now a video that can help you when you are applying for Finnish citizenship, with instructions on how to fill in the relevant form (KAN_1). The video, published on the Finnish Immigration Service’s YouTube channel, explains what information you must provide, and illustrates the process as the form is filled in with a fictional person’s information (Ella Esimerkki, or ‘Ellie Example’).
Our goal is to help applicants fill in the application form correctly using the video, so the form can be processed quickly. If any areas of the form are left blank, we have to request additional information from the applicant, which delays the process.
The video is available in Finnish and Swedish, like the KAN_1 form itself.
Please give us feedback on the video
Later in 2012, we will be releasing a video with instructions on how to fill in the OLE_PH1 form for spouses of people already living in Finland with a residence permit, which allows the person already resident in Finland to apply for the spouse’s first Finnish residence permit.
Please provide comments on our citizenship application instruction video on our website. You can find the feedback survey link on the Citizenship Forms page under the KAN_1 form (please note that the video and the feedback survey are available only in Finnish and Swedish, as well as the form KAN_1 itself). User experiences will determine whether we will be producing instruction videos for other forms too.
