There are currently backlogs in the appointment booking system used by Finnish authorities. Therefore, people applying for a residence permit or Finnish citizenship may not be able to book an appointment at a police service point to verify their identity or submit their application.
Problems in the booking system will not affect the processing of your application
If you submit your application via the e-service, you need to verify your identity within a given time period. If you cross the given deadline for the reason that the authorities have no free appointments, it will not affect the processing of your application.
If you cannot find a suitable appointment, check again at the beginning of the following week if there are more available appointments, or call the telephone number for appointments at your local police.
In case you already have an appointment for the verification of your identity, you do not need to request for extra time. Please state the time of the appointment you were given by supplementing your application in the e-service within one month after submitting your application.
