Elina Nurmi appointed as Director of Reception Unit

The Finnish Immigration Service has appointed Elina Nurmi, Master of Arts, as Director of Reception Unit. She will take up the post on 1 February 2023.

Before her future post at the Finnish Immigration Service, Elina Nurmi has been working as Manager of Immigration Affairs at the City of Helsinki. She is currently responsible for the coordination and strategic management of immigration and integration affairs at the City of Helsinki and for directing the International House Helsinki service centre. In addition, Nurmi has previously worked for the City of Helsinki as chief specialist and project manager.

The director of the Reception Unit manages, monitors and develops the functions of the Unit and is responsible for the Unit’s results. A particular focus area is to further the development of high-quality, customer-oriented and cost-effective reception centre operations, as well as to develop the organisational culture of the entire agency.

Pekka Nuutinen, who preceded Nurmi as Director of Reception Unit, is retiring.
