The Finnish Immigration Service has issued the first negative asylum decisions to asylum seekers who have arrived in the country from Russia through the Raja-Jooseppi border crossing point. Their applications were processed in an accelerated procedure. The applicants are refused entry and sent back to Russia or to their home country.
When an accelerated procedure is applied, a decision on refusal of entry may be enforced on the eighth day after the negative decision, regardless of appeal, and the decision includes a prohibition of entry into the Schengen area.
