Residence permit applicant: Remember to take a passport photo to the appointment for identity identification
When applying for a residence permit in Finland, you will need a passport photograph meeting all the requirements. The same photo will be on your residence permit card when your application is approved. If you have submitted your application electronically through the Enter Finland service, please take a passport photo with you when showing proof of identity in an embassy or consulate.
You need to take a printed passport photo with you because photographs cannot be uploaded into the Enter Finland service.
If you have filled in your application on paper, you will need to take a passport photo to the embassy, consulate or police station when bringing your application.
The photograph must be approved by the police
Passport photo requirements are laid down by the police. Carefully read the instructions before you have your photograph taken. Please remember that the photograph must not be more than 6 months old.
