Did you apply in Enter Finland? Prove your identity within 3 months of submitting your application

Publication date 3.10.2022 13.51
Press release

When you apply in the Enter Finland online service, you must prove your identity at a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service or at a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate) abroad within three months of submitting your application.

Proving your identity means that your identity is confirmed at the service point or mission. During the visit, you must show the originals of the documents you have attached to your application and you may be asked to give your fingerprints for your residence permit card.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline for proving identity has been extended several times as many customers have had trouble visiting service points or a mission due to COVID-related restrictions. There will be no more extensions.

However, even though there are no more COVID-related restrictions in many places, the wait for available appointments may be long.

If you are unable to prove your identity within 3 months of submitting your application because you could not find an available appointment,

let us know through the “Send additional information” page in Enter Finland. In your additional information, remember to include the date for which you were able to book an appointment. Send the additional information within 3 months of submitting your application in Enter Finland.

If you are applying for an extended permit in Finland, you may not necessarily need to visit a service point

You can avoid a visit to a service point if you log in to Enter Finland using your online banking credentials, for example. Learn more on the Identification page.

If you can apply on the fast track,

you must prove your identity within 5 working days of submitting your application. Learn who can apply on the fast track.
