Finnish institutions of higher education charge tuition fees from students who arrive from outside the EU and the EEA. In your application, you should give evidence that you have the necessary funds to pay your tuition fees.
If you pay your tuition fee before arriving in Finland, please attach documentation of the paid fee to your residence permit application. In addition to the tuition fee, you need to have sufficient means of support to be able to live in Finland. Read more about students’ income requirement.
If you pay the tuition fee only after arriving in Finland, you should attach documents to your residence permit application to show that you have the necessary funds to pay your tuition fee and support yourself while in Finland. You cannot use funds reserved for your living to pay the tuition fee.
If you have been exempted from paying tuition fees or received a scholarship, you have to prove this by presenting a certificate from the educational institution. Even if you receive a scholarship or are exempted from paying tuition fees, you must still have sufficient means of support to live in Finland.
