All service numbers and service points of the Finnish Immigration Service are closed on 7–9 May 2024. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Most applications can be submitted using the online service Enter Finland. You can also use Enter Finland to check the status of your application. Your application becomes pending when you submit it in Enter Finland. After that, you have 3 months to visit a service point to prove your identity.
Is your residence permit or travel document expiring on 7–9 May 2024?
You can submit your residence permit application online in Enter Finland and prove your identity at a service point later. You can book an appointment for your visit or take a waiting number at the service point. The following permits cannot be applied for in Enter Finland:
- residence permit on the grounds of Finnish origin
- residence permit on other grounds.
You cannot apply for an alien’s passport or a refugee travel document online. Visit a service point before your travel document expires. Book an appointment or take a waiting number at the service point. Read more about how to book an appointment on our website.
Are you applying for an extended permit or for a new residence permit card? If you prove your identity online, you might not need to visit a service point
Visiting a service point is not always required if you submit an online application in Enter Finland and use strong electronic identification (online banking credentials, citizen certificate or mobile certificate) to log in. After you have submitted your application, Enter Finland will tell you whether or not you need to visit a service point.

If you are applying for a residence permit card on the basis of temporary protection, please use Enter Finland to submit an online application. If you cannot apply online, submit the application at a service point during opening hours.
