If you do not meet all the requirements or do not have all the obligatory attachments, you should not submit your citizenship application. You must also attach a language skills certificate to your application before submitting it to the police.
If you do not meet the requirements or an obligatory attachment is missing, it will slow down the processing of your application and may result in a negative decision.
The Finnish Immigration Service provides general advice on the requirements for obtaining Finnish citizenship on our websiteand also by telephone. However, we cannot:
- Provide an opinion in advance on whether the requirements for obtaining Finnish citizenship have been met in the case of individual customers.
- Provide a preliminary assessment of whether your language skills will be sufficient for obtaining Finnish citizenship. You can check whether you have a suitable certificate on this page.
- Provide an extension, for example in order for you to take the next Finnish National Foreign Language Examination (YKI). You must submit the language skills certificate and other obligatory attachments at the same time as your application.
