Citizenship application for a child can now be made online
It is now possible to fill in a separate citizenship application form for a child online.
Up to now e-services have enabled citizenship applications for adult applicants only. The applicants have been able to use the same form to apply both for themselves and for a child in their care.
E-services speed up decision-making because information in the system is transferred directly between the police and the Finnish Immigration Service. With e-services, you can also follow the progress of your electronic application online.
You may access the e-services via the websites of the Finnish Immigration Service or the Finnish police. The direct address is https://e-asiointi.migri.fi.
Visit a police service point to verify your identity
After you have completed the citizenship application through e-services, you must visit a police service point of your choice to verify your identity and to present the originals of the attachments required for the application.
When you are applying for citizenship for a child, you must bring him or her with you to the police service point.
An application cannot be processed until you have visited the police.
