The members of the Finnish Post and Logistics Union are on strike from 19 November. The strike delays mail and parcel delivery in Finland.

The letters and parcels the Finnish Immigration Service has sent by post will probably arrive a bit later than normal. For example, residence permit cards and notifications of decisions may arrive later than usual.

The strike does not affect residence permit card deliveries to Finnish missions abroad, because a private company takes care of these deliveries.

Exceeding a time limit due to the postal strike will not affect your matter

If you have sent something to the Finnish Immigration Service by post and the delivery is late because of the postal strike, this will not affect the processing of your matter.

For example, if you have been asked to send additional documents by a certain date, it does not matter if they arrive late as long as you have sent them before the end of the time limit.

Decisions may be appealed to an administrative court. If your appeal arrives late due to the strike, contact the administrative court for further information about how this affects your appeal.

Use the e-service to send additional documents and to check notifications of decisions if you have applied online

If you have applied for a residence permit or citizenship via the Enter Finland e-service, you can attach the documents that you need to send to the Finnish Immigration Service directly to your application in the service. You will also be notified of the decision directly in the Enter Finland e-service.

More information about the postal strike can be found on the website of Posti.
