Automated decisions possible for some citizenship applicants
Today on 2 May 2024, we will start issuing automated decisions on certain citizenship applications.
An automated decision is a decision that our system automatically makes on your application. The processing of your application may involve automated steps and steps taken by our specialists.
Our system makes an automated decision only where this is possible under law. Automation is based on the rules formulated by the Finnish Immigration Service. The system uses these rules to check whether your application meets the requirements laid down in law.
When you apply for Finnish citizenship, you may receive an automated decision only in certain situations. If your citizenship application cannot be decided using automation, you will receive a decision on your application in accordance with the normal, manual process.
