Publication date 5.6.2023 12.57
Press release

At the moment, the processing of your application will begin within approximately three weeks of the submission in Enter Finland.

Once the processing of your application has started, you will get a notification

When you apply online for an extended permit, for a residence permit card or for a residence card, Enter Finland will tell you whether or not you need to visit a service point. If there is no need to visit a service point, we will start processing your application and issue decision as soon as possible. You do not need to take any action. We process the applications in the order they arrive.

Once the processing has started, we will send you a notification and Enter Finland will show you the diary number of your application. If necessary, you can then print out a certificate of a pending application in Enter Finland.

We will contact you if we need any additional information for your application

The number of customers who are conducting the entire application process online has increased, and we have received lots of applications for which a service point visit is not required. We will notify you when the processing of your application has begun. You can expect a notification from us within approximately three weeks of the date when you submitted your application in Enter Finland. If additional information is needed for your application, we will contact you. There is no need for you to contact us while you wait.

Please note that calling the Finnish Immigration Service’s telephone service will not speed up the processing of your application. Booking an appointment to visit a service point is not recommended either: if you conduct the entire process online, you will save time and the decision will usually be issued more quickly.

Thousands of customers have conducted their application process without needing to visit a service point

In 2022, more than 10,000 customers were able to avoid visiting a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service. Conducting the entire application process online will save you time. In addition, the processing time of an application that does not require a visit to a service point may be shorter than average. We aim to increase the number of customers who can conduct the entire application process online.
