Problems with the Kamu chatbot place in queue feature – looking for solution

Publication date 19.6.2024 10.30
Press release

On 20 May, we notified users of technical problems with the Kamu chatbot and the inability to get information about your place in the queue. The place in queue feature has been disabled because the Finnish Immigration Service suspects that it has been used in an unintended way.

Kamu’s queue feature is intended for customers and employers so that they can check the status of their own or their employee’s applications in the processing queue.

However, Kamu has recently been used to systematically inquire and track the queue positions of a large number of random applications.

We are investigating the matter in cooperation with other authorities.

Customers' personal data has not been compromised

The diary number does not contain personal data on the customers of the Finnish Immigration Service. The diary number can also not be misused.

The matter does not require you to take any action if you have an application pending at the Finnish Immigration Service.

The processing of applications continues as normal

Problems with the place in queue feature in the Kamu system do not affect the processing of applications.

Unfortunately, our helpdesk is unable to inform you about your application’s place in the queue by phone or email. The information on your place in the queue is also not currently available in any other way.

You can log into your Enter Finland account to track the progress of your application. You will also receive automatic messages about the progress of your application. Use the Processing Time Checker to calculate the estimated processing time of your application.

The Finnish Immigration Service is considering a replacement for the place in queue feature

We understand that the place in queue feature in the Kamu system has been an important tool for our customers to track their application progress. We are very sorry that the place in queue feature is disabled for the time being.

We will inform you immediately when we are able to provide a replacement tool for the place in queue feature.

Kamu continues to advise you on matters related to immigration and nationality, even though it can no longer inform you about your application’s place in the queue. Kamu answers your questions in Finnish and English.
