Do not send personal data via regular mail – use the secure Enter Finland service

Publication date 10.8.2023 16.00
Press release

We have been made aware that scam email messages have been sent to our customers in the Finnish Immigration Service’s name. The messages ask our customers to provide personal data related to their residence permit applications, such as their date of birth, passport number, bank account statements and payslips.

Never send your personal data via email that is not encrypted. If you receive email from us, keep in mind that all email messages sent by the Finnish Immigration Service come from an address that ends with @migri.fi.

The most reliable information on residence permits, citizenship and asylum matters can always be found on our website at migri.fi. If you want to visit our website, enter ‘migri.fi’ in the URL field of your browser. If you use a search engine to access our website, you may be directed to some other less reliable website.

Start using the secure Enter Finland service for your application matters

You can take care of most permit matters with the Finnish Immigration Service via the Enter Finland online service. You can fill in an application, submit your important attachments and pay the processing fee of your application through the service’s secure connection. Using Enter Finland is often faster than using email.

If you cannot use Enter Finland, use a secure email service

If you must send an email with personal data, use our Securemail service that encrypts your message. For technical and information security reasons, we only open email messages sent via the Finnish Immigration Service’s Securemail service.

Registering for the service:

  1. Go to securemail.migri.fi.
  2. If you want to change the language of the service, use the language dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the service.
  3. Enter your email address in the ‘From’ field. Select ‘Continue’.
  4. Register for the service by selecting ‘Register’. If you have already registered with your email address, order a new link to be sent to your email. You receive a personal link to your email address that you can use to send messages via Securemail. The link is valid for 30 days.
  5. Go to your email and open the personal link for sending messages via Securemail.
  6. Type in your message, attach any appendices and select ‘Send’.
  7. When the Registry of the Finnish Immigration Service receives your message, a confirmation is sent to your email.

Only send the message once, as this will make it easier to process all messages. We process messages in the order they arrive.
