The Finnish Immigration Service has today informed those in charge of reception centres of new terminations of contracts. The accommodation capacity will be reduced by more than 2,000 beds, mainly by the end of March 2017.

The reason for this adjustment is the estimated reduced need for accommodation in 2017. It is expensive to maintain unnecessary accommodation capacity and this is why the goal is to keep the number of beds as close to the real demand as possible at all times.

Those in charge of the reception centres will carry out employee cooperation negotiations with the staff at the centres.

There are approximately 23,000 beds at the reception centres today. The number of beds will be reduced already in the autumn and winter by approximately 7,000 when the reductions announced earlier this spring will come into force.
