Preparations to set up a registration centre in Tornio

There are plans to open a registration centre in Tornio to facilitate registration of asylum seekers. The centre cannot be opened before the municipal council has given its consent. The municipal council of Tornio will make its decision on Monday 21 September.

The preparations for establishing the centre will begin already during the weekend. According to the plans, the centre will be set up in an empty upper secondary school which is located only a few hundred metres from the border.

The aim is to open the registration centre on Tuesday morning after the council has made its decision.
