If you have a residence permit for studies in Finland and will continue to study in the autumn, remember to apply for an extended permit well before your residence permit expires. Applications for extended permits are submitted to the police.
Applications for extended permits cannot be submitted abroad
Remember to apply for an extended permit before travelling abroad for summer holidays, because you cannot apply for an extended permit abroad.
If you submit a residence permit application abroad, it will be processed as a first residence permit application. The processing fee will also be higher than for an extended permit. More details about the processing fees can be found here.
